Ray Allen
Walter Ray Allen, Jr. (July 20, 1975-) was an Air Force brat who lived in California, England, Oklahoma and Germany growing up, but led his Hillcrest High School team to the South Carolina state championship in 1993. Allen then attended the University of Connecticut where he was named the 1995 USA Basketball’s Male Athlete of the Year and the 1996 Big East Player of the Year. The two-time All-American set a single-season record connecting on 155 three-point shots in 1995-96 and earned the 1996 UPI Player of the Year award. The Minnesota Timberwolves then took Ray with the fifth overall pick of the 1996 NBA Draft, but traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks for Stephon Marbury. Allen played six and a half years (1996-2003) with the Bucks and was part of the “Big Three” along with Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson before being shipped to the Seattle SuperSonics for Gary Payton.
