Vince Carter
Vincent Lamar Carter, Jr. (January 26, 1977-) has been one of the NBA’s most dynamic players since his arrival in 1998 after having led his high school team to their first championship in 56 years and his college hoops squad to back-to-back Final Four appearances in the NCAA tournament. Vince took Mainland High School to the 1995 Florida Class 6A Boy’s High School Basketball Championship, won the Florida Basketball Player of the Year award and earned a USA Today, PARADE and McDonald’s All-American honors in his senior year (1995). Vince then attended the basketball powerhouse University of North Carolina to play under legendarych, Dean Smith, where he helped lead the Tarheels to back-to-back ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championships and Final Four appearances. He was a finalist for the john R. Wooden Award in 1998, honoring the most outstanding men’s college basketball player, and was a 1998 consensus All-American. After declaring for the NBA draft only weeks after teammate Antwon Jamison, the Golden State Warriors drafted Vince with the fifth overall pick of the 1998 NBA Draft and immediately traded him to the Toronto Raptors for the #4 pick, Jamison, on draft day.
